Each day at Hay House Nursing Home in Broadclyst, Exeter, is thoughtfully structured to support our residents’ physical, emotional, and social well-being. Here’s what a typical day looks like for our residents:

A Gentle Start

Residents wake at their own pace. Our care team is on hand to assist with washing, dressing, and morning routines with kindness and respect.

Breakfast Time

A warm and nutritious breakfast is served in the dining room. Residents choose from cereals, fruit, toast, and hot breakfast options. Meals are unhurried and social.

Morning Activities

Residents may join a host of morning activities. Some may opt for reading, chatting, or enjoying a quiet coffee in the lounge, whilst others may enjoy something more stimulating.

Lunchtime

Lunch is a freshly prepared, two-course meal tailored to dietary needs. Our team is available to help residents who require support while eating.

Rest and Recreation

After lunch, residents may choose to nap, socialise, or take part in an organised activity. One-on-one visits also happen during this time.

Afternoon Tea

Tea, cakes, and conversation fill the afternoon. It’s a time to wind down and enjoy time with friends or visiting family members.

Evening Meal

A lighter supper is served, and dietary needs are again carefully met. Residents often enjoy watching a film, playing a game, or listening to calming music afterwards.

Night-time Care

Residents settle into their rooms with support if needed. The home becomes quieter, but our night team remains alert, providing comfort and assistance through the night.

Life at Hay House is structured but never rigid. Our priority is making each resident feel respected, engaged, and truly at home.
